Kubota announced the addition of two new excavator lines-the K008-5, the traditional tail wagging excavator and the all-new U10-5 minimum tail wagging excavator.
Kubota tractor announced the addition of two new excavator lines-the K008-5 conventional tail-wagging excavator and the all-new U10-5 minimum tail-wagging excavator in world concrete this week.
These new building product announcements lead to the company’s 2022 product launch, while the k008-5 will replace the-3 with various upgrades to the U10-5 to take on an all-new, demand-point mini-tail array in the U series.
The U10-5 was previewed at the world of concrete showroom this week, and both models will go on sale at Kubota’s authorized dealership early this spring.

The U10-5 is the smallest tail-swing model, and both have retractable treads that are ready to work in the narrowest space on the site. “With the introduction of the new k008-5 and u10-5, we now have 13 mini excavator models, covering the 1-8 ton weight class, and now have greater flexibility in both the traditional and the smallest rear cycloid. All of our-5s are well-designed with more customization to keep our customers working efficiently and comfortably.”
Refined, Never Confined
The K008-5 and U10-5 offer simple, single-layer mobility with hydraulically adjustable track widths that quickly shrink to fit tight spaces easily — think of doors, Gates, building interiors, corridors, elevators and more.
On K008-5, the track is adjusted down to 2’4”. The U10-5 was shrunk to 2 feet 6 inches, and then when the operator wanted to widen the track, the track was widened to 2 feet 10 inches. And three feet, three inches.

A Lean, Mean Digging Machine
Each new mini excavator has a surprisingly wide scope of work and excavation because of their mini frame.
The K008-5’s scope of work includes a depth of 5’8”. And 2,205 pounds of breaking force.
U10-5,5’11”in diameter. Depth of excavation, bucket breaking force of 2,337 pounds. In addition, the u10-5 hydraulic control system provides smooth operation and increases excavation productivity.
The U10-5 also provides the same side joystick control as other larger KUBOTA excavator products, with consistent joystick digging control.
Both models offer clean, hose-less boom lines because hydraulic hoses are uniquely concealed and protected within the boom resulting in less excavator downtime. Other features of the new model include:
- Heavier frame more solidly positioned: Kubota adds weight to the two new excavator models more solidly positioned at the operator station. The K008-5 weighs 2,315 pounds, while the U10-5 weighs 2,646 pounds.
- Speed: The K008-5 and u10-5 engines have a combined horsepower of 10.3 horsepower and a speed of 2.5 miles per hour.
- Easy to operate: Both new models are two-speed excavators. The two-speed travel pedal allows the operator to easily switch between high and low gear.
- Two modes of control: Both modes have ISO and sae modes of operation and can be easily changed to suit the operator’s preferences.
