At this week’s taxi show in Orlando, Takeuchi beauty unveiled its first diesel electric hybrid, mini excavator 216h.
With this dual power function, the machine can switch between working indoors and outdoors, Takeuchi says. The final 14.9 horsepower Yanmar Tier 4 engine powers the machine in diesel mode. The rated power of the motor is 14.2 horsepower. The machine also has a separate hydraulic pump unit.

For Electric Models, tB216H can be plugged into a 400-480 volt three-phase power supply. If connected to electricity in diesel mode, Takeuchi reports that when the key is cycled, the diesel engine will shut down and use up the power.
For ease of use, electric motors are designed to swing out and away from diesel engines. The machine also features a retractable chassis that transitions from 51.2 inches to 38.6 inches.
The operating weight is 4,277 pounds, the maximum breaking force is 4,250 pounds, and the maximum arm force is 1,843 pounds. The maximum depth of excavation is 7 feet 10 inches, and the maximum depth of excavation is 13 feet 5 inches.
