Yanmar mini device unveils First Electric mini excavator

The SV17e mini-excavator is aimed at customers in the European market and plays in the 1.5- to 2.0-tonnes segment.

The Yoma mini unit brings its engine and mini excavator experience to the field of electrification with the first electric mini excavator prototype: the SV17E. This innovation is an important strategic step in the company’s transformation.

“Our transformation will encompass the entire business and will include new products using alternative fuel technologies,”said Giuliano Pardoi, CEO of Yanmar mini equipment. “The sv17e prototype clearly demonstrates our intent to build sustainable business for our customers and dealer partners.”

The SV17E is aimed at the European market and weighs between 1.5 and 2.0 tonnes. Powered by electricity and powered by a 48 volt battery, with fast charging capability, this is a quiet zero emission machine designed to meet stringent emission limits. Consistent with Yanmar’s commitment to improving the customer experience, the sv17e’s appeal extends beyond simple electric machines. The design and engineering team has set out to build a machine that provides high levels of comfort, Ergonomics and operational capability, accuracy and control.

“Our prototype is important because it demonstrates our ability to bring the quality and reliability of our highly respected traditional engine technology into the field of electrification,”explained Cedric Durand, director of Product Management EMEA. But we went further. As always, the operator is at the heart of the machine, and we have challenged ourselves to provide comfort, power, control and precision that we believe will exceed the expectations of professional operators.”

In preparation for the Bauma 2022 launch, the sv17e prototype is currently undergoing product testing at Yanmar to ensure durability and reliability in design and engineering.

According to Sota Takami, head of the European, Middle Eastern and African Bureau of Engineering, “As you might expect, we have a rigorous testing system that pushes every aspect of the machine to its limits. The machine performed well in all the tests. We are particularly satisfied with the power and control of the machine. Sure, it’s a quiet zero-emission machine, but that’s not enough by itself. We have to create a nice feeling for the operator. I’m sure a professional operator would be very comfortable with this machine. They will definitely feel the power, control and precision required to take on big and small tasks.”
