Kubota is giving its popular BX subcompact tractor lineup a major upgrade with the introduction of the all-new BX90 Series. Unveiled in September 2026, the redesigned range features five models, three trim levels and improvements aimed at helping property owners, landscapers and small farm operators handle more tasks with a single compact machine.
The new lineup includes the BX2190, BX2390 Deluxe and BX2690 Premium, along with two backhoe-equipped versions, the BX2390S and BX2690S Premium. Engine output ranges from 19.3 to 23.9 gross horsepower, giving customers more power and flexibility across different applications.
Stronger Loaders Improve Material Handling
One of the biggest changes is the redesigned front loader system. Kubota introduces two loader options: the LA355, with a lift capacity of up to 721 pounds, and the LA405, capable of lifting up to 904 pounds under the specified measurement conditions.
The BX2390 and BX2690 also benefit from increased hydraulic flow and pressure, helping improve response and shorten loader operating cycles. Other improvements include dual bucket cylinders, a larger rollback angle and better-protected hydraulic hoses. These changes are particularly useful when moving soil, gravel, mulch and other materials around farms, gardens and construction properties.
For operators who regularly switch between tasks, the redesigned loader cradle also makes attachment and removal more convenient.
Better Mowing Performance and Easier Controls
The BX90 Series is designed for more than loader work. Its new 54-inch and 60-inch mower decks feature welded-steel construction and offer different mounting options. The available Swift-Mount system allows the mower deck’s driveline to connect automatically as the tractor drives over the deck, reducing installation effort.
Kubota has also replaced the traditional treadle-style hydrostatic transmission pedal arrangement with side-by-side forward and reverse pedals. This design provides a more natural operating position and makes changing direction easier, particularly during repetitive mowing and material-handling work.
The BX2690 Premium adds more advanced features, including a full-color LCD display, programmable engine-speed settings and joystick-integrated throttle-up functionality. Operators can access additional engine power and hydraulic response when performing demanding loader tasks.
One Compact Tractor for Year-Round Work
With compatibility for mowing equipment, front snowblowers, sweepers, backhoes and other implements, the BX90 Series is intended to handle a wide range of seasonal jobs. The backhoe-equipped models also add digging capability for landscaping, drainage and property improvement projects.
Kubota plans to bring the new BX90 Series to authorized dealerships beginning in early 2027. The redesign reflects growing demand for compact equipment that combines maneuverability with stronger performance and easier operation.
As compact tractors take on more demanding work, keeping their engines, hydraulic systems and undercarriages in good condition becomes increasingly important. Regular inspections and timely replacement of worn components can help reduce downtime and maintain reliable performance.
